Earth Day: A Great Day to Plant Trees!
April 22 marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. In 1970, inspired by the student-led protests of the time, then-Senator Gaylord Nelson sought to raise awareness of increasing pollution and promote environmental protections. That year, 20 million Americans took to the streets, parks, and auditoriums to push for a more sustainable world, and launched a movement that continues to inspire individuals and families.*
While this 50th anniversary comes at a time when many cities are under shelter-in-place orders, most still encourage a walk outside. This week, take a moment to unplug, take a stroll in your community (maybe to your neighborhood Giving Grove!), and give thanks for this wonderful Earth we call home.

The Giving Grove Takes Root in Memphis!
Your support of our little orchards is having a big impact in FOUR cities now! We are thrilled to announce that our newest affiliate, Memphis Tilth, will soon be bringing little orchards to neighborhoods throughout the Memphis, Tennessee, region. After a year of planning, Memphis Tilth is now caring for its own fruit tree nursery and planning orchards with its neighborhood partners.
Thanks to our neighborhood stewards, partners, and financial supporters, Giving Grove's 241 little orchards are closing the gap on food insecurity, strengthening communities, creating environmental resiliency, and providing new gathering spaces for neighbors to build community across the nation!
