We are very excited to announce Giving Grove’s newest affiliate, Louisville Grows! Founded in 2009, the vision of Louisville Grows is "to foster green, just and sustainable neighborhoods in Louisville. Louisville Grows seeks to be a leading nonprofit in advocating for health equity through the environmental platforms of urban forestry and urban agriculture.”
Louisville Grows is the fifth affiliate to join the national Giving Grove network. We look forward to a fruitful partnership of planting trees, improving the environment, and creating a sustainable food source in Louisville, Kentucky.
Get Picking... It's Harvest Season!
What a delight this time of year can be in a little orchard! In the coming weeks, apples, pawpaws, jujubes, and pears will all be ready to harvest by the bushel. Some orchards will donate the fruit to pantries or organizations that help feed the hungry. But at many orchards, the fruit is directly available to the neighborhood and community that surrounds it. Due to the pandemic, this fresh, free fruit will be more important than ever. Please share your Giving Grove bounty with neighbors and friends!
